About the Department

Delve into the realm of Civil Engineering, a distinguished professional discipline dedicated to the design, construction, and maintenance of our physical and natural environment, encompassing vital structures such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. Established in 2009, our Department of Civil Engineering offers a comprehensive undergraduate program, B.E. Civil Engineering, and a specialized postgraduate course, M.E. Civil - Structural Engineering started in A.Y. 2013-14.

Our department is committed to fostering holistic student development through innovative pedagogy and immersive learning experiences. With a primary goal of producing adept, skilled, and industry-ready civil engineering graduates, we strive to meet the demands of both industry and society. Through our rigorous curriculum and exposure to emerging technologies, we equip our students with the requisite knowledge and training across diverse facets of Civil Engineering.   • State-of-the-Art Facilities: Well-equipped laboratories, workshops, and research facilities are available for hands-on learning and conducting advanced research in Civil Engineering. Departments with access to state-of-the-art equipment and technology can provide students with practical skills and opportunities for innovative research.
    Special Lab - Universal Testing Machine (UTM) of 1200 kN loading capacity is available for conducting Consultancy and Research work.
  • Research Opportunities: Civil Engineering departments with active research programs offer students the chance to participate in cutting-edge research projects. Engaging in research not only enhances students' understanding of theoretical concepts but also prepares them for careers in academia or industry.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

  • PO1 – Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO2 – Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • PO3 – Design / Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • PO4 – Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO5 – Modern Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO6 – The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • PO7 – Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • PO8 – Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
